Communications Manager & Editor (100%)
POSITION OVERVIEW
Location: Zurich (100% FTE)

The Geneva Association’s Communications Manager & Editor is a key contributor to the organisation’s editorial and content operations. This multifaceted role involves overseeing the full editorial lifecycle of the academic journal, The Geneva Papers, managing and elevating the quality and reach of Geneva Association research outputs, and guiding our digital and communications presence. The role demands excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, as well as the ability to anticipate needs and proactively shape workflows and outputs to meet organisational goals.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Manager & Editor is based out of Zurich, Switzerland, with the possibility to work from home two days per week.
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role is structured across four areas:
- Academic Journal Management (35%): Lead the editorial process for our peer-reviewed journal, The Geneva Papers, including managing submissions, coordinating peer reviews, and ensuring timely publication in close collaboration with the journal's Editor-in-Chief.
- Research Editing & Translations (25%): Edit research reports for clarity and consistency; oversee multilingual translations to ensure broader dissemination in target markets (China, Japan).
- Digital Communications (20%): With the Digital Content & Design Manager, own the creation and scheduling of digital content across social, email, and web channels, ensuring consistency and relevance. Identify opportunities for content innovation and recommend new approaches based on performance data.
- Content Development & Editorial Support (20%): Write and/or refine a wide range of content – including press releases, event and marketing content, conference summaries, and newsletters – ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with the organisation’s voice and goals.

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Native-level English proficiency, with exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills across academic, policy, and public-facing formats.
- Familiarity with online editorial management systems (e.g. Springer).
- Comfortable with digital content planning tools (e.g. content calendars, email platforms, social media schedulers), and an understanding of analytics-informed content strategy.

Research Intern, Climate Change & Environmnent (up to 100%)
POSITION OVERVIEW

Duration: 9 months with the option to extend to 12 months

This role is a unique opportunity to work on research projects in the areas of climate change and insurance. Working under the supervision of the Director of Climate Change & Environment, you will be a key contributor to research projects, events, and other activities.
You should expect a dynamic environment and be able to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and autonomy in your daily work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform desk research on relevant topics and contribute to the drafting of reports
- Plan, participate in and summarise discussions of multi-stakeholder roundtables
- Support conducting interviews with stakeholders and analyse responses
- Conduct empirical analyses based on publicly available datasets
- Design graphs and prepare presentations
- Support the director in coordinating the activities of the working groups and other external stakeholders
CLIMATE CHANGE & ENVIRONMENT INITIATIVES
- Support ongoing the research project on “Decarbonizing sectoral business models and implications for insurers”
- Help design new projects in areas such as,
- Blueprints of effective programmes to enhance property and local level resilience to extreme weather
- Trends in consumer behavior for accelerating the climate transition (adaptation and mitigation) with implications for the insurance industry
- Environmental risks associated with the energy transition and implications for public policy, regulation and insurers
- Conduct research to support the development of projects for 2026-2027 CCE workplan
- Support the planning of the 2025 and 2026 Climate Change and Environment Conferences
- Other activities as relevant
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Close to completing a university degree or a recent graduate (preferably at post-graduate level) in areas of business, finance, economics, risk management, risk modelling, geography, or environmental sciences
- Knowledge of – or interest in – global developments related to climate change, with focus on impact of extreme events on economy, industry and society as a whole
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
- Strong interest in/motivation to learn about insurance/reinsurance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Pro-active and autonomous working style
COMPENSATION AND TERMS
- CHF 4,000 per month
- Valid Swiss work permit required
